Math Tutoring has been renamed The Math Club and is open to all.  It will be on Thursdays from 2:15 to 3:15.  Come join us for math games, activities and MART (Math art) in Ms. Hiestand’s room.

Thanks to KTA: This year Volcano School received $632.39 from KTA during their fundraising program.  Thanks to all of you who shopped KTA and bought the listed items that qualified.

Money for the school:  If you are buying a new Toyota Camry, Highlander or Sienna minivan during January, February, May or June, please name the teacher or school of your choice, and Toyota-Hawaii will take care of the rest by awarding cash certificates to the school.

Rags Wish List: The lunch staff could use rags for cleaning the Multi-Purpose Room.  If anyone has any rags you are not using at home, please donate them to us.  Thank you, The Lunch Staff

Non-disclosure: There was an interesting editorial in the Honolulu Advertiser on Sun. Dec. 19.  Check it out.  Also, Peggy is still accepting the non-disclosure forms at the office.

Homework Concerns: Parents, we are having issues with homework not being completed and turned in to the teacher.  Please check with your children to make sure homework is finished and turned in in a timely manner.  Also, if any parents have a question or concern that you need to address with a parent representative, please write out your comment and mark as a parental concern.  These notes should be sent back in the Info Flo.  Thanks for your support, Kathy Brooks – Parent representative to the board.

Reminder: Students not in A+ or after school programs need to be picked up by 2:30.  Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up or walk home.

Facilities planning: As we work to acquire the school campus, restore the grounds and enclose the
lanais we are bumping up against the need to have both long-term and interim plans in place.

What should our school ultimately look like? What buildings and equipment and spaces are needed, how should the flow of activities and traffic be
coordinated, and what about the need for more parking? What about playgrounds, and a pre-school? Dare we mention High School? And in the short term, what are the most urgent needs, and how can they be met in ways that will build towards a long-term plan?

If you have any interest in helping the school with these issues, please come to the first long-term planning meeting on Thursday, January 20th, at
5:30 p.m. in Mr. L’s tent. If you have suggestions but can't make the meeting, drop a note for Ted at the office, or e-mail to pirsig@hawaii.rr.com.

Inserts: lunch and bus bills, lunch menus, NAEP letter to 4th and 8th grade, Flyer about Open House, New Fabric Arts Class, 5th – 8th grade.
