Board Election : It is time again for our School Board Election.  We are looking for 5 new Parent Representatives for our School Board.  Are you willing to devote time to 2 meetings a month and would you like to be more involved in the process of decisions made regarding the school?…if so, we would like to hear from you! If you are interested in filling this space or would like to nominate someone, please contact Kathy Brooks at 989-6826 or by email at Kathy.brooks@auttori.com before March 24, 2006 for more information.  The election of our Parent Representatives will be held by ballots through the Info Flo on Tuesday, April 4th.

4th Grade Parents:  During the month of April, our 4th graders will be participating in swimming lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Please send them to school with a bathing suit, towel, and a bag lunch (we will not make it back to school in time for the school lunch).  This schedule begins April 3rd, the first Monday back from spring vacation, so mark your calendars.  Permission forms need to be turned in by this THURSDAY.

Clay class needs tile. Middle School clay class is building mosaic for new classroom.  Ceramic tile needed. Broken or pieces okay.  We can pick up.  Call Lora Gale – 985-9126.

Board Meeting: The VSAS board will meet this Thursday, March 23, at 6 p.m. in Ms. Morrison's tent.  The main event of the evening will be an in-depth look at our school's current and future relationship with the State of Hawaii educational standards.  All are welcome, as always.

Teacher Survey time: The VSAS board and administration are soliciting opinions from families regarding the quality of work our teachers are doing with your children. In this Infoflo, you will find teacher survey questionnaire(s). Please fill it out thoughtfully and fairly, and return the completed form(s) to the office in a sealed envelope. Your comments will be confidential, and will be taken into consideration as teachers are evaluated by the ED and as next year’s individual professional development goals are set. Please be sure to note strengths as well as areas of challenge that you see in our teaching staff. Details appear on the cover letter attached to the questionnaire. Thank you for sharing your opinions.

Fencing classes:  Ben Blakemore will be teaching a beginning fencing class for men, women, boys and girls from 8 years of age and up.  Classes start Wednesday, April 5, 2006, 4:30 - 5:30 pm.  Classes will be held in the covered court at the Cooper Center for 10 weeks.  A donation of $50 to the Big Island Fencers Association is recommended to support the purchase of equipment for future classes and club events.  For information on ordering equipment and signing up for the class, call Ben at (808) 985-9029.
