Hawaii Civil Rights Commission Art Contest Winners: Congratulations to Paka  Davis, 1st place (4th grade) and Heather Lewis, tied for 1st place (5th grade), and to Ms. Devorah Kaplan, their teacher in Social Studies. Each student won $50 and each of their classes won $100.00, for their efforts.  Their awards will be presented at the Hawaii Supreme Courtroom in Honolulu (two round trip air tickets each and a reception included.)  The Civil Rights Commission, DOE, UHManoa, Japanese American Citizens League, Hawaiian Telcom, and the Hawaii Assoc.of Independent Schools were sponsors. 

Just Desserts – A Fundraiser for our 8th Grade Graduation ceremony:  On Wednesday, May 10th from 11:45 am to 1 pm, we will have a bake sale to raise $$ - Cake, brownies, bread pudding, gingerbread, cookies, etc. We are asking everyone to donate your home baked desserts that we will sell at 50 cents a slice on Wednesday, May 10th during lunch time in the Bubble.  Please drop off your dessert contributions Wednesday morning at Ms. Morrison’s room.  Please have cookies in “3 or 4 to a small bag” already.  Our graduation needs to raise money to pay for our decorations and pizza.  Contact Ms. Marie 985-7404.

Fabric Arts Class is over. However, the sewing lab will be open Monday afternoons from 2:15-4:00.  Anyone with their own projects to work on may come in and use the machines.  Ms. Hiestand will be there to help and supervise.  There is no charge but donations for machine upkeep and repairs will gladly be accepted.

Recycling:  March through mid-April income is $62.50.  Cumulative total is $697.24.  Thank you for separating cans from plastic bottles, and for removing caps from bottles.  Recycling is about more than monies earned; remember – Earth Day is Friday.
