Fractured Fairy Tales , the Middle School’s theatre production, was a great success!  We want to give a big Mahalo to Volunteer Director, Suzi Bond of KDEN, Don Lawrence, Middle School teacher, and to all the students who worked so hard to give us a great show.  Mahalo also to those volunteers that helped, including set designer - Paul Lackner, make up - Roch Jones and Dina Kageler, and the Coon’s family.

Wednesday, May 3rd Fundraising meeting for the upcoming art auction is at 6 P.M. in the 2nd grade room. We need more volunteers for this event! Please call Annabelle for more information. 985-8703.

Our 8th Grade graduation ceremony will be on Saturday, June 3 at Cooper Center from 10:30-11:30 am.  A light lunch of pizza will be provided after the ceremony.  We need the 8th grade parents to bring side-dishes (green salad, pasta, dessert) to add to our lunch.  Please call Mrs. Morrison, 967-8583 (home) if you can bring a side-dish.  Mahalo.

Ho’olaulea: Friday, May 19 from 12 noon to 2 pm.  The student council and Middle School will be organizing our 2nd annual Ho’olaulea.  There will be games, prizes, baked goods, snacks, drinks and a pet picture contest.  Tickets will be sold for 25 cents each.   If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Q or Ms. Tammy at 985-9800.

The Ka'u Education Ohana (charter school group) will be meeting this Thursday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Discovery Harbour Community Center. On the agenda is the first board election and selection of officers. Nominations for board seats is still open, with currently eight people running for the maximum of 13 board seats. Voting is open to anyone attending the meeting.  To stay in touch with this group's efforts there is now an email listserve; to join go to http://groups.google.com/group/kau-ohana. The group has recently joined efforts with Ocean View parents and will be meeting every-other-time in Ocean View.
