XI. Conclusion

nothing is going to get better. It's not."

This Document, A Beginning

This document represents the work of many people and many hours of discussions by a dedicated group of community planners, educators and parents. Our attempts have been to create a plan for a school which will clearly reflect our community's values and goals and provide a blueprint for future school leaders, while leaving enough inherent flexibility for growth and change to occur.

Our community is a growing entity. It is within the scope of the community's long-term plans to expand upon the elementary and middle school grades as framed within this document and to add pre-school and high school services. This broadened vision for community education, although lying outside the scope of this document, fits with our desire both to provide local educational services for Volcano's families and to build a comprehensive linked curriculum based on the strengths and values of the community.

This plan provides the seed, the community provides the fertile soil, the administrative framework provides the proper climate for germination and growth, and the families themselves provide the trunks and branches of the trees upon which may bloom the bright and beautiful na pua, the blossoming children of our home.

Special thanks go to the following people who "care a whole awful lot" and who, although neither official members of our board nor residents of the Volcano community, have contributed greatly to the development of the concepts expressed in this document.
